Adjustments after ASPI Installation

If you have installed the ASPI drivers but digital recording is still grayed out in SlowGold, please check the following settings in WinXP (for corresponding instructions for Win98/WinMe please send us an email). Click the File menu>Print command in your Internet browser to print these instructions.

A. Check the Properties for your CD ROM drive to make sure that the "Enable Digital Recording for this CD ROM Device" option is selected.
  1. Close SlowGold,
  2. Open the Control Panel, and double-click the System icon,
  3. Click the Device Manager tab,
  4. Click the + to the left of the CDROM category to expand it,
  5. Double-click the CD-ROM drive that you're using for CD Audio (or check both if you are unsure)
  6. Click the Properties tab.
  7.  If it's not already selected, check the box that says "Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device",  and make sure there is a check-mark for that option.
  8. If were able to select it then start up SlowGold again and check the Settings Menu>Recording tab to see if digital recording is still grayed out.

B. Disable Auto Play on your CD Drive

  1. From My Computer right-click the icon for your CD drive and click the Properties command>Autoplay tab;
  2. From the CD Rom Properties dialog box, select "Music CD" from the Content Type drop down list at the top of the dialog box;
  3. Click the "Select Action to Perform" option button in the lower half of the dialog box, and click the "Take no Action" option in the list of possible actions provided.
  4. Click OK to save and apply the changes.

C. Confirm that correct drive letter is listed for CD Music

  1. From inside SlowGold confirm correct drive letter. Click the Settings menu>CD tab, then click the button and make sure correct drive letter is listed. Even if the correct drive letter is listed delete the letter showing in the box and type the letter in again and click OK (this will cause SlowGold to requery the CD drive and perhaps that will nudge something)
  2. Then close SlowGold and open it again and check the Settings menu>Recording tab to see if digital recording is still grayed out.

D. Send us an email at support@slowgold.com

If you have installed the ASPI drivers and checked the settings listed above and still can not select Digital Recording in SlowGold, or are having other problems, send us an email explaining the steps you have taken.
