SlowBlast: No Sound After Recording
SlowBlast runs fine with all Windows Operating Systems, including WinXP. If you can't hear sound during loop playback/slowplay playback, then you
need to check your Windows Mixer settings to make sure it is set properly for
Recording and Playback. SlowBlast uses Analog recording and your mixer is
probably set for the device that handles digital recording. This is an
easy thing to fix.
We have included the steps below that most often will solve the problem but
please write to us for assistance if
you need further guidance.
First, make sure you are running the most current version of SlowBlast. If
you have an "Instant Playback" command listed under the Options menu
then you do, if not then download it from this link:
SlowBlastSetup.exe.
Make sure all programs are closed then run the setup file you downloaded and
install over your current version.
Check Recording Settings
1. Open SlowBlast! and from the Options Menu click the "Auto Select
Input Device" command to disable this feature (make sure there is no check
mark);
2. Now from the SlowBlast! Options Menu choose Volume\Recording (if this command
is not operating properly in your program then click
Start>Programs>Accessories>Entertainment/Multimedia>Volume Control);
3. Click the Options menu>Properties command from inside the mixer panel
window that opens;
4. In the "Adjust Volume For" section make sure the
"Recording" option is selected, and in the "Show the following volume controls" section make sure that
all available devices are checked.
5. Press the OK button and you will now be in the Recording Control with all
devices showing.
6. Now use the Windows Task Bar to switch back and forth between SlowBlast and
the Recording Control. Because every system is different, due to what hardware
you have installed, you must experiment with your recording mixer to find the
correct device for your system: click the Select check box under one of the
devices, then try recording and slowing down a loop in SlowBlast again. Continue
switching back and forth until you find the correct device. Since SlowBlast uses
Analog recording, your device may be called something like "Wave Out
Mix" or "Loop Out", "Stereo Mix", "What U
Hear", but it will not be "Aux", "Microphone",
"Video", "Phone", etc;
7. Once you find the correct device, adjust the volume until you can get a good
sound when listening to the loop play back in slowplay mode. If the volume is
too high, loud sounds will distort. If the volume is too low, there may be
excessive background hiss. But get it just right, and the sound should be pretty
good.
Check Playback Settings (this section may not be necessary)
1. Open SlowBlast! and from the Options Menu choose Volume\Playback (or click
Start>Programs>Accessories>Entertainment/Multimedia>Volume Control);
2. You'll see a Volume Control mixer panel appear;
3. Choose Properties from the Options menu of the Volume Control Mixer Panel;
4. In the "Show the following volume controls" section make sure all
devices are checked;
5. Press the OK button and you will be back in the Volume Control
6. Make sure that the mute box at the bottom of the CD Audio and Wave strips are
not checked in the Volume Control Mixer Panel;
7. Make sure the Wave volume control is set high enough for both CD Audio and
Wave (about 3/4 of the way to full volume is usually good).
